Year 2 Autumn Blog 1

Autumn Term in Rabbit and Mouse Class

Autumn Term in Rabbit and Mouse Class

This half term we have been learning about the Victorians and we finished by trying to re-create the experience of attending a Victorian school. The children and adults dressed up in Victorian costumes and took a full part – even experiencing Victorian punishments such as the Finger Stocks when they fidgeted! This was enjoyed by all and the parents had the opportunity to join us for the end of the day.

Harvest and Sukkot

We also learnt about how Christians celebrate at harvest time and some children brought in harvest boxes. These boxes were judged by the governors and these are the Year 2 winners.

We compared Christians celebrating harvest with the Jewish festival of Sukkot. The children made models of the temporary shelters (called Sukkahs) that the Jews build for this festival.
